Jacke Nr. 01 – Knitting Pattern (PDF)
The cable jacket is a timeless, slim-fitting cardigan that is easy to combine with many styles.
It is worked seamlessly top down – starting with a yoke from which the sleeves are shaped directly. This means the cardigan is knit without any seams.
The decorative cable pattern is worked without a cable needle and is created with knit, purl and twisted stitches.
The cardigan has long sleeves and a full button band. It is knit in a wonderfully light merino yarn that comes in 25 g balls, which keeps the finished garment light and comfortable to wear.

Yarn alternatives (with amounts)
The cable jacket is designed for a gauge of approx. 23 sts x 32 rows = 10 x 10 cm (washed & blocked). If you use a different yarn, make sure you reach this gauge.
Important: Lamana Como is a superlight yarn (120 m / 25 g). Many alternatives come in 50 g balls with different meterage, so the gram amounts can be much higher. The amounts below are calculated from the original yarn usage and rounded to practical 50 g steps.
DROPS Merino Extra Fine
(100% Merino, superwash, approx. 105 m / 50 g)
→ 450 / 500 / 600 / 600 g
Character: smooth and elastic with an even stitch definition; tends to feel more compact than Como.
DROPS Cotton Merino
(50% cotton, 50% merino, approx. 110 m / 50 g)
→ 450 / 500 / 550 / 550 g
Character: soft with a slightly heavier drape; comfortable and practical, less “airy” than Como.
BC Garn Semilla
(100% wool, approx. 160 m / 50 g)
→ 300 / 350 / 400 / 400 g
Character: stable and slightly rustic with excellent stitch definition—great for cables.
De Rerum Natura Ulysse
(100% merino, approx. 185 m / 50 g)
→ 300 / 300 / 350 / 350 g
Character: natural, grippy merino with a clear fabric—cables stand out beautifully.
Sandnes Garn Duo
(55% merino, 45% cotton, approx. 124 m / 50 g)
→ 400 / 450 / 500 / 500 g
Character: soft and shape-holding, comfortable on the skin; a bit heavier than Como, very durable.
Kremke Soul Wool Morning Salutation
(50% lyocell, 50% cotton, approx. 150 m / 50 g)
→ 350 / 400 / 400 / 450 g
Character: smooth, cool drape; cables look a little softer—gauge swatch strongly recommended.
FAQs
Who is this pattern suitable for?
Difficulty is ●●●○○. You should be comfortable working flat and in the round, picking up stitches, and working increases and decreases. The cable pattern is approachable because it is worked without a cable needle.
How is the jacket constructed?
The jacket is worked seamlessly top down. You knit the yoke first, then place the sleeve stitches on hold and work the body. The sleeves are then worked from the held stitches.
Do I need a cable needle?
No. The cables are created with knit, purl and twisted stitches—no cable needle required.
Which size should I knit?
Use the finished chest circumference as your guide:
S 87 cm · M 98 cm · L 109 cm · XL 110 cm
If you are between sizes: choose the smaller size for a closer fit, the larger size for more ease.
Can I adjust the length?
Yes. With top-down construction you can easily adjust body and sleeve length. This may change yarn usage.
How important is gauge?
Very important. Gauge (washed & blocked):
10 x 10 cm reverse stockinette = 23 sts x 32 rows with 3.5 mm needles.
Adjust needle size to match.
Can I use a different yarn?
Yes—just make sure you match gauge. Suitable alternatives and yarn amounts are listed above.
Why do the yarn amounts change so much for alternatives?
Lamana Como is a superlight yarn (120 m / 25 g). Many alternatives have different meterage per 50 g, so the required grams can be much higher. Gauge is always the key.
How many buttons do I need?
7 buttons, approx. 15 mm diameter.
How do I receive the pattern?
After payment you will receive a download link.
