Hytta Tee
Seamless, top down, versatile.

The Hytta Tee is a round-neck shirt worked seamlessly from the top down. It can be worn on its own in summer or layered as a slipover in autumn and winter.

Construction

First, the tee is worked back and forth in rows. The right- and left-leaning shoulder increases are worked on both right-side and wrong-side rows. At the same time, increases are worked for the neckline.

The work is then joined in the round and the shoulder increases are continued. Back and front are worked separately in rows to the end of the armholes. The body is then joined and worked in the round down to the hem. The armhole edgings and neckband are worked in the round from picked-up stitches.

The length of the body can be adjusted individually.

FAQs

What skill level is required?

The Hytta Tee is rated ●●●○○ and suitable for ambitious beginners and intermediate knitters.

All steps are described in detail, with photos and links to helpful video tutorials on the rosa p. YouTube channel.

How is the Hytta Tee constructed?

The tee is worked seamlessly from the top down.

It starts flat, worked back and forth to shape shoulders and neckline.

After joining in the round, the yoke and body are knitted in one piece down to the hem.

Sleeve and neck ribbings are picked up and worked in the round.

All lengths can be adjusted individually.

Which yarn is used in the sample?

The sample shown is knitted with Drops Belle.

It creates a light, soft texture – perfect for summer wear.

Can I substitute the yarn?

Yes! The pattern includes several tested combinations:

Summer options (cool & plant-based):

  • Drops Paris

  • Sandnes Line

  • Knitting for Olive Cotton Merino

Year-round options (light & airy, held double):

  • Drops Brushed Alpaca Silk + Drops Safran

  • BC Garn Bio Balance + Tussah Tweed

  • Knitting for Olive Merino + Soft Silk Mohair

  • Isager Bomulin + Alpaca 1

Autumn/Winter options (warm & cosy):

Always check your gauge after washing and blocking.

Can I adjust the length or fit?

Yes. Because the tee is worked top-down, you can try it on while knitting and adjust body or sleeve length as you go.

What needles do I need?

Circular needles 3.5 mm and 5 mm, lengths 40–60 cm and 80–100 cm.
