FAQs
FAQ – Tuch Nr. 02
1. How is the shawl constructed?
Shawl No. 02 is worked sideways, starting from the narrow tip on the left edge. In every right-side row, one stitch is increased, creating an elegant, asymmetrical triangle shape.
2. Is the pattern suitable for beginners?
Yes. The pattern uses simple stitches such as knit, yarn over and knit two together. Confident beginners who can read charts will find it easy to follow.
3. Can I adjust the size of the shawl?
Yes. The size can be changed easily by knitting more or fewer repeats of the pattern. Please note that this will affect the total yardage required.
4. Which yarns work best?
The design was originally made with a soft fingering-weight yarn (approx. 400 m / 100 g).
Any smooth wool, wool blend or silk-merino mix with a similar gauge works beautifully.
You’ll find a list of recommended yarns and quantities above.
5. How should I wash the finished shawl?
Wash gently in lukewarm water with wool detergent, then shape and lay flat to dry.
If you prefer machine washing, please check the care instructions of your chosen yarn.
More information can be found in my blog article:
“Wool care – machine or hand wash?” on rosape.de.
6. What needle size should I use?
Start with 4 mm needles as stated in the pattern and adjust if needed to reach the gauge of 22 stitches = 10 cm in garter stitch.
7. Can I use gradient or hand-dyed yarns?
Yes. The pattern structure and the simple stitch texture work beautifully with tonal or gradient yarns.
