Erikka Vest
For everyone who loves timeless vests with clean lines and versatile styling options.
The Erikka Vest is part of the Erikka Collection and is a modern sleeveless vest with a classic V-neck. It is worked seamlessly from the top down and is a perfect layering piece throughout the year – worn over a blouse or T-shirt, as an extra layer of warmth in winter, or as a lightweight vest on cooler summer days.
With the different yarn options, you can completely change the character of the vest – from soft and fluffy to a smooth fabric without a mohair halo.
Construction
The Erikka Vest is worked seamlessly from the top down in rows.
The back is worked first, with the shoulders shaped using short rows for an excellent fit. The right and left front pieces are then worked directly from the shoulders.
Once the armholes have been completed, the back and fronts are joined and the body is worked in rows to the desired length.
Finally, the front bands are added. You can choose between a classic button band or a double-face button band worked in double knitting.
The body length can easily be adjusted while knitting.

FAQs
How is the Erikka Vest constructed?
The Erikka Vest is worked seamlessly from the top down in rows.
The back is worked first, with the shoulders shaped using short rows. The right and left front pieces are then worked directly from the shoulders. Below the armholes, the fronts and back are joined and worked together.
Which button band options are included?
You can choose between two versions:
- a classic button band
- a double-face button band worked in double knitting
The classic version is simpler and quicker to knit. The double-face version creates a particularly neat and stable finish.
Can I knit the Erikka Vest without mohair?
Yes. DROPS Nepal, for example, can be used as a smooth, single-strand option without any halo.
This creates a well-defined fabric with slightly more structure. The most important point is always to match the required gauge.
Which yarn options are included in the pattern?
The pattern includes three fully calculated yarn options:
- DROPS Alpaca held together with two strands of DROPS Kid-Silk
- DROPS Alpaca Bouclé held together with DROPS Kid-Silk, with DROPS Karisma used for the bands and ribbing
- DROPS Nepal worked as a single strand without mohair
Additional suitable yarn combinations are listed on the product page.
Can I adjust the length of the vest?
Yes. Since the Erikka Vest is worked from the top down, the body length can easily be adjusted while knitting.
A longer vest will require additional yarn, more buttons and more buttonholes.
How do I choose the right size?
Use the finished bust circumference of the vest and compare it with your own bust measurement.
The finished bust measurements are:
103 / 110 / 116 / 121.5 / 128 / 134 cm
Choose the size according to how much positive ease you would like.
Do I need to knit a gauge swatch?
Yes. A washed and blocked gauge swatch is especially important because the recommended yarns have very different textures.
The required gauge is:
13 stitches × 21 rows over 10 × 10 cm in stockinette stitch
Is the pattern suitable for beginners?
The Erikka Vest is best suited to knitters with some experience.
Short rows, picking up stitches and working the bands require a little practice, but all steps are explained clearly in the pattern.
How many buttons will I need?
For the classic button band, you will need approximately 3 to 7 buttons measuring 18–20 mm in diameter.
The longer you make the body, the more buttons and corresponding buttonholes you should plan for.
