Kaaya Shawl
Skill level: ●●○○○
Measurements:
Length approx. 250 cm, Width (centre) approx. 34 cm
Description
The Kaaya Shawl is a narrow scarf with a reversible look – it appears the same on both sides.
It is worked from tip to tip in an easy yet striking textured pattern, created from knit and purl stitches. A neat slip stitch edge frames the entire shawl.
You begin at one tip, formed with slip stitches, and increase until reaching the widest point. From there, you continue with decreases towards the second tip.
Kaaya can be knitted in a wide range of yarns and needle sizes to create different looks:
-
In fingering weight yarn (sock yarn weight), it becomes a small neckerchief – also perfect as a hair band.
-
In two strands held together – for example, a soft merino yarn with a fine mohair or alpaca – it transforms into a cosy, large wrap to keep you warm.
