Vaatha Tee – Digital Knitting Pattern (PDF)
A detailed step-by-step pattern for a clean summer tee with a V-neck and cap sleeves – with lots of photos, check-off tables (all sizes), a size guide, schematic drawing, design examples in every size, plus many tips and tricks.
The Vaatha Tee is worked top down. Front and back are worked separately first. The shoulders on the back are shaped with increases worked in both right-side and wrong-side rows. Then front and back are joined for the body and continued in the round.
Stitches for the sleeve bands are picked up from the armholes and worked in the round. The neckband is picked up from the cast-on edge and the V-neck edges and worked separately in ribbing in the round.

FAQs
FAQ – Vaatha Tee
Which size should I knit?
Vaatha Tee has a relaxed fit. Use the finished chest circumference as your guide: 95.5 (100) 104.5 (111) 117 (124.5) 131 (138) cm. Choose the size that gives you the amount of ease you prefer.
Is Vaatha Tee beginner-friendly?
Difficulty is ●●○○○. You should be comfortable knitting flat and in the round, and picking up stitches (for sleeve and neck bands). The pattern guides you step by step.
How is the V-neck worked?
The V-neck is shaped while knitting the front and back sections and is then neatly finished with the picked-up neckband worked in ribbing in the round.
How are the shoulders shaped?
The shoulders are shaped on the back with increases worked in both right-side and wrong-side rows. This creates a clean, stable shoulder line without seams.
Can I adjust the length?
Yes. Since the tee is worked top down, you can easily adjust body length. A longer version will require more yarn.
Can I use a different yarn?
Yes. The key is to match gauge:
10 × 10 cm stockinette = 18 sts × 24 rows/rounds with 5 mm needles (washed & blocked). If your yarn has a different meterage, adjust the quantity accordingly.
Is this tee suitable for summer yarns?
Yes. Yarns like Bio Balance, Line or Belle create a light summer version. Different fibres drape differently, so gauge and wash behaviour matter.
Can I knit Vaatha Tee held double with mohair?
Yes. A base yarn plus one strand of mohair creates a lighter, softer look. Match gauge and обязательно wash and block your swatch, as mohair changes after blocking.
Do I really need to wash the swatch?
Yes. Gauge is given washed & blocked. Many yarns change after washing, which affects fit and length.
How are the sleeves worked?
The sleeves are cap sleeves. Stitches are picked up from the armholes and worked in the round, keeping the tee completely seamless.
