Description
The Vinnje Slipover is worked seamlessly top down in half brioche.
First, the back is worked flat. The shoulders are shaped with increases worked in both right-side and wrong-side rows, and the armholes are formed with increases as well. Next, the front is worked flat in the same way, shaping both the neckline and the armholes with increases. For the body, front and back are joined to work in the round. A subtle textured detail is created on the lower front by working increases and decreases at the same time.
The neckband is picked up from the neckline stitches, and the armhole edgings are picked up from the armholes; both are worked in the round.

Yarn alternatives
You can knit the Vinnje Slipover either two strands held together (mohair + a base yarn) or with a single strand. The key is always to match the gauge (washed & blocked). Depending on the yarn, the character changes: two strands create a lighter, softer fabric; single strand gives a more substantial, compact feel.

FAQs
Who is the Vinnje Slipover suitable for?
The difficulty level is ●●●●○. You should be confident working flat and in the round, working increases and decreases, and picking up stitches for edgings. You should have knitted half brioche before, or feel comfortable working this fabric.
How is the Vinnje Slipover knitted?
The slipover is worked seamlessly top down in half brioche. First the back is worked flat, then the front. After that, both pieces are joined to work the body in the round.
How are the shoulders and armholes shaped?
The shoulders are shaped with increases worked in both right-side and wrong-side rows. The armholes are also formed with increases, so the shaping is integrated cleanly into the construction.
What is the special textured detail on the front?
On the lower front, a subtle raised texture is created by working increases and decreases at the same time. This is a fixed design feature and is explained step by step.
How are the neck and armhole edgings worked?
Stitches for the neckband are picked up from the neckline, and stitches for the armhole edgings are picked up from the armholes. Both edgings are then worked in the round.
Which size should I knit?
Use the finished chest circumference as your guide:
95 (100) 105 (110) 120 (130) 140 (150) 160 cm (XS–5XL).
If you’re unsure, use the rosa p. size guide: rosape.de/2025/06/rosa-p-groessenwahl
How important is the gauge swatch?
Very important—half brioche can change significantly depending on the yarn. Gauge is measured washed and blocked:
10 × 10 cm = 17 sts × 32 rows in half brioche with 5 mm needles.
Adjust needle size until you match gauge.
Can I use a different yarn?
Yes. You can knit the slipover either two strands held together (mohair + base yarn) or with a single strand. The key is to match the half brioche gauge. The product description includes suitable yarn alternatives and yarn amounts.
Which needles do I need?
You need circular needles 3.5 mm, 4.5 mm and 5 mm (40–50 cm as well as at least 100 cm). Depending on your preferred method, longer needles or Magic Loop can be helpful.
