Riika Top is a summery tank top in rib pattern. Depending on your choice of yarn, you can wear it as a slipover, too. Riika is worked top down, so that you can vary the length and adjust it to your personal preference.
First, front and back piece are worked separately flat, while neckline and armhole openings are shaped with right and left leaning increases.
Thereafter, front and back piece are joined on one needle for the body, which is then worked in rounds downwards to the hem.
Around the armhole openings and the neckline new stitches are picked up for the ribbings.

Recommended needles
Circular needles
2 mm, 40 – 60 cm long,
2,5 mm, 40 – 60 cm and 60 – min. 80 cm long,
3 mm, 60 – min. 80 cm long.
Supplies
Stitch markers, wool needle, measuring tape, scissors.
Knit a gauge swatch first and adjust the needle size if necessary.
I recommend that you also knit a gauge swatch in stockinette stitch as it is easier to measure.

Riika Top is designed with a tight fit. Compare the measurements of the finished top with your body measurements and decide before knitting whether you want to wear it with negative ease (= chest circumference – 2 cm) or with positive ease (= chest circumference + 0-2 cm).
For a slipover or a slightly wider top, I recommend at least 5 cm positive ease.
On the cover photo I wear the top in size S. I am 1,60 tall and have a chest circumference of 86 cm.
